Litter Removal Notecard June 2016
Dealing with litter on your land.

Stewards:  You may have visitors who whether by accident or intent leave objects on your land.  These objects count against your total land impact (formerly called "prim count") and so should be removed when you find them.

If you are a parcel owner, you can deal with litter yourself. Go to World>  Parcel Details > Objects tab. Click the Refresh List button.  You will see a list of all the avatars who have prims (land impact) on your land, and how much land impact they have. To return the objects, click on the name of the individual whose items you do not want on your parcel and click the Return button.  If there are a large number of items, or they seem malicious in design (for example: pornographic images, replicating objects, repeated irritating sounds) please report the litter first by calling for a  Protector or Estate Manager in group chat.  Once the responding individual is done with his or her report, you can return the objects.
Check your land regularly for litter, especially any evidence of a ‘squatter’ (someone who ‘sets up house’, often at higher altitudes). For strategies of more selective litter removal strategies, see the last section of this notecard.

Leasers and Renters: If you are renting or leasing from The Faery Crossing, and you find litter, please call a Brownie using group chat. Simply say “Brownie needed please.” You can also contact a Protector or Estate Manager to return litter. If you are leasing from another resident, contact them for help if he or she is available, or contact a  Protector or Estate Manager otherwise.

 Litter Removal Strategies

**Finding litter using Firestorm Area Search****
World menu > Area search > click the Search button;  Click "show beacons" in the bottom right corner, sort by owner by clicking on the Owner column heading and look for unfamiliar names.  Click an item and it puts out a beacon for you to follow. After highlighting the item, click the World Map and you can teleport to the offending piece of litter.

**Seeing invisible prims***
Press CTRL, ALT an T at the same time on your keyboard to activate "highlight transparent".  Transparent items will be highlighted in red.  Now they are easy to click on and return.  If they are small you may have to cam in very close first to see it.  Do this by pressing CTRL, ALT + T while you click on or very near the object and using the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom.

**Seeing objects
under ground***
.Press CTRL, ALT, SHIFT and 5 at the same time on your keyboard. The region's ground will disappear and you will be able to see objects under the ground to return them.  Use the same combination to cause the ground to reappear.

**Seeing an object that is spewing particles***
Press CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, and = the same time. Particles will disappear and you will see the object that is producing them much easier.  You may need to also turn on "highlight transparent" since particle producers are usually invisible.

**Selecting an item that is invisible or tiny**
Go into edit mode with CTRL+B, then click the middle button at the top of the edit menu (looks like an arrow pointing at a square).  Left click somewhere in the world and, while holding that button down, drag over an area and all the items in that area will be selected.  Be careful since you may grab the floor too, but this helps you see small prims as they will be outlined in yellow too.

**Returning an item to its owner***
Returning an item to its owner: [right click on item, "more", "return"].
Or you can use the following if you are VERY VERY VERY careful (since it returns everything that person has on the parcel)!World > Parcel Details > Objects Tab
Click the circular "Refresh" arrow.  Highlight the person's name (be careful!). Hit "Return Objects". and EVERYTHING THEY OWN on the parcel will be returned.

**Returning using Parcel Details**
If you are a parcel owner, you can deal with litter yourself. Go to World>  Parcel Details > Objects tab. Click the Refresh button.  You will see a list of all the avatars who have objects on your land, and the land impact these objects have.  To return the objects, click on the name of the individual whose items you do not want on your parcel and click the Return button.  If there are a large number of items, or they seem malicious in design (for example: pornographic images, replicating objects, repeated irritating sounds) please report the litter first by calling for a Protector or Estate Manager in group chat.If a Protector or Estate Manager is not available, please send a notecard to one of them including a description and the SLURL.
